Like a painting

This has always been one of my most favorite photos.  My husband and I pulled over the side of the road while driving along the Oregon coast and I saw this woman sitting among the flowers near the shore.  So peaceful and so full of color.

Wind Power

Windmills are beautiful.  That is all.

Lost and Found

While reviewing some photos on my external hardrive, I found some great pictures that I had forgotten about.  Thought I would share.

Lowest point in North America, Death Valley.

Utah silence.

Through the gate on I70.

Yellowstone

I love the American West.  I love the national parks, the mountains, the wide open spaces.  I visited Yellowstone for the first time last year.  Super crowded but well worth the drive.  Who could possibly pass up boiling water gushing from the ground, sulfuric gases, and a giant caldera as a potential summer vacation spot!

One of the many Yellowstone medows

Another lonely tree.

Another hairpin turn.

Stepping in that  might kill you.

Mud volcanoes.

Beautiful colors.

Morning Fog on the Path

I wanted to get out of the house with my camera this morning.  Sadly, it's a bit misty and foggy today so I decided to ride my bike, drag the camera along, and get some shots of the fog.  I forgot about the hills.  Might not be walking very well tomorrow.

Spring flowers.

The horse farm.

On the path.

Craters of the Moon National Monument

A bit nostalgic for last year's summer vacation road trip out west  On the way back east, we stopped at Craters of the Moon National Monument. A bit out of the way, but worth a visit.  It's a huge extinct lava field.  Apparently the Apollo astronauts trained here to see what it would be like on the moon.  Cool!  A few pics from my old camera....

Lava flows.

Flowers growing in the lava flows.

These yellow flowers are everywhere.

A very well preserved tree.

Winspringummer Morning

Winspringummer continues.  The magnolias are blooming, the trees remain leafless, and it's 80 degrees in Chicago.  Time for a trip to the Arboretum...

Waiting to be planted.
A big old tree.
A new magnolia flower.
Already open.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Shamrocks, beer, green, more beer, fire engines, lots of candy.  All the good makings of a good parade.
